Question: What exactly is a lectern? Is it the same as a
pulpit or podium?
Answer: Older churches that follow a historical layout
usually have two speaker stands. The stand on the right
(from the audience perspective) is referred to as the
lectern. They are traditionally used for reading
scriptures. The lectern side of the church, even today,
is often referred to as the epistle side of the church.
Lectern, in Latin, means "to read."
The stand on the left is referred to as the pulpit.
Pulpits are generally used for giving sermons. The pulpit
side of the church is often referred to as the gospel side
of the church.
Ambos are typically used for both scripture reading and
for sermons. They are usually located in the center of a
church. Podium is a more generic term that is given to all
speaker stands.
Lecterns, ambos, podiums and pulpits are all
interchangeable and can be used for giving speeches,
sermons or reading scriptures. They can be used in almost
any location of a church.
Question: Can your pulpits be modified?
Answer: Our pulpits can all be modified. Because all our
church furniture is hand-made, we can make sure any
modifications are made before the furniture is built. Some
of the most common modifications made to our pulpits are
the addition or removal of symbols and crosses. We have
also had several customers requests aesthetic changes to
the pulpits as well, such as making them slightly wider or
adding an additional shelf. Our sales associates can help
you decide what changes can be made. They can also give
you a custom quote for these modifications.
Question: What are the most common types of stains used on
your pulpits and lecterns?
Answer: The two most common colors chosen for our lecterns
and pulpits are antique cherry and light oak. Be sure our
stains match your existing furniture. Depending on the
type speech stand you choose, we have over ten colors of
stain to choose from. We also have wood samples available
if needed. Because the furniture is hand-made and
built-to-order, make sure you pick the correct stain color.

making it more difficult to send e-mails to customers.
Putting us on a white list will ensure that you will
